Illustration
In this two-week intensive, students will practice the craft of working as an illustrator.
Illustrators work to create bold, compelling images that communicate, interpret, and reinvent visual concepts. Through real-time problem solving, planning, and refinement, they will transform ideas and sketches into complete illustrations.
Students will engage in research-informed art making, exploring art movements and methods that can shape their creative process. They will also learn how artists revise their work, gaining skills and tools to carry into future projects. The intensive centers on working with briefs, in-progress critiques, and project timelines, helping students make informed decisions in both design and illustration.
Students will also experiment with new media and material-based exploration. They might work backward from a type of media, a message to communicate, or a physical object to fabricate, studying how it is used in real life.
