Summer Camp for Teens
Putney Summer Arts is a summer camp like no other. Technology free for four weeks, you’ll have dedicated and focused time every day to grow as an artist in a supportive community where you can truly be yourself. Whether you’re trying something for the first time or honing your craft, our faculty will be here to guide you on your individual path. All of this happens on our beautiful 500-acre campus in Southern Vermont.
We are currently monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic. All on-campus programming will be designed to follow recommended safety precautions as outlined by the Center for Disease Control and the state of Vermont.

If a student withdraws prior to May 1, TPSSA will refund tuition, minus deposit paid. If a student withdraws after May 1, tuition will be refunded minus $1,000. Also, please understand that our top priority is always safety, and should it become clear that bringing students together on our campus would be too great a risk given the COVID-19 pandemic, we may need to shift course and either cancel our program outright or significantly alter the experience by offering workshops online which would be at a reduced tuition.
- Each student chooses two workshops as their main focus

The Summer Experience
The Summer Arts program is an immersive experience drawing on Putney School traditions like the daily sing and milk lunch, as well as evening activities and weekend activities on campus. Afternoon activities include open studio time, group sports and outdoor activities, farm chores, and special events. Please note that some activities may be adjusted in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
In the evening you’ll enjoy shorter activities, artist talks, and open studio time. The Evening Arts program offers you the opportunity to continue to develop your skills from one of your main workshops or select an entirely different art form. You’ll choose two activities that each meet for a series of seven classes over the course of four weeks.
Weekend events include studio time, group arts activities, student readings, faculty performances, a film festival, overnight camping expeditions into the Putney forest, in addition to dormitory and campus-wide activities and events designed by students and staff that bring us together in community.
