Tom Howe

Director of Summer Arts

Tom Taught in the early years of the Summer Arts and brings experience in the performing arts, teaching and school administration to his position as director. He is a graduate of Hampshire College and, for 11 years, worked in New York, performing in numerous downtown venues Off and Off-Off Broadway and on tour. In 1987, he moved, together with his wife Mary, to teach at The Putney School. Tom served as Head of the Drama Department at the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago in the mid 90's and returned to Putney to direct the Summer Arts program in 2001.

Dan Folgar

Office Assistant

Dan is a Venezuelan born cartoonist, painter, and video artist. He received his MFA from the Miami International School of Art & Design, and a BA in Cinema Studies from the University of Central Florida.

Stella Benezra

Residential Life Coordinator

Stella started working at Putney in 2013 as a dormhead and photography apprentice teacher. She returned last summer as the Residential Life Coordinator and is returning this summer to continue in that role. She graduated from Tufts University in 2013 with a degree in Child Development. As a student she focused on American Sign Language and the effects of art education on the development of children. Stella has worked as an after-school teacher, an outdoor educator, and is currently attending Columbia University Teachers College for her Masters in Deaf Education.

Maverick Malina

Office Assistant

Maverick was born and raised in Chicago, and has spent the last two years working full-time in animal welfare for various local animal shelters. Her responsibilities included caring for homeless animals and re-homing cats and dogs in the area. Her passions include poetry, music, animals, and making people laugh! She previously studied Education and Psychology at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. Maverick first heard about Putney four years ago, when she attended the program as a student and had the time of her life! After studying Farm and Poetry at Putney, she decided that she wanted to come back as a staff member to help give back to the experience. Maverick is very excited to get to work and help make this summer an unforgettable one for everyone involved.
